Achilles Tendinitis

Achilles Tendinitis

Is a condition where the Achilles tendon, which is used when you run, jump, walk and go on to your toes, becomes inflamed from overuse. The cause can be from someones running or tennis playing increasing in duration or intensity too quickly, or more commonly if the person is a weekend player and older, as the tendon weakens with age. Soreness can be felt up the calf but also where the muscle is attached to the heel of the foot by the achilles tendon. Mostly this can be relieved by rest and home care, advised by your doctor. If you experience very severe pain it is vital to get medical attention incase you have ruptured the tendon.
